We have been feeling rather cocky this year. We have ridden our tandem bicycle a couple thousand miles any without flat tires. Well the odds caught up with us today in Deming, New Mexico. Read More
Goat Head Thorns:
Grand Marshal
We are here in Carson City Nevada just in time for the Nevada Day’s Parade. While we were snooping around the Nevada State Railroad Museum today we chanced on a photo shoot. A Channel 8 special reporter was interviewing the Grand Marshal for the Saturday parade. The catch is the Grand Marshal is a 36 ton 1875 era steam locomotive, no. 22 named the Inyo. Read More

Gin in Burton Texas:
I know you are wondering if Gary has fallen off the wagon. Yesterday rum and today gin. Well today I am talking about a gin as in engine. Gin as in cotton gin. A contraction from Eli Whitney’s original invention, “The Little Cotton Engine.” Read More

Footsteps of History:
Today we toured historic downtown Montgomery Alabama: First by tourist trolley and then by foot. We literally walked in the footsteps of history: The history of Alabama as a state. The history of the Confederacy as Jefferson Davis was inaugurated in 1861. It happened to be an important railroad junction and close to Washington’s back door. Then we drove on to Front Royal Virginia, stocked up on groceries and fabric and entered the Shenandoah National Park to drive the Skyline Drive. Read More
Allegheny Mountains:
We are really getting to see the fall colors here in the Allegheny National Forest Region in north western corner of Pennsylvania. The weather is still dripping on us but we are still enjoying ourselves. Read More
Shelburne Museum:
Wow! Two days in one museum! We were told that the Shelburne Museum was one of those “don’t miss it” places. It is open from 10 to 5 daily until the end of October. We opened it and closed it on Saturday. We didn’t even stop for lunch. We took along some munchies and just kept going and going like the Eveready bunny. Read More
