For the past month we have been staying on Neil and Renee’s new home lot in Leander Texas. This is a six acre “Ranch” very near what is known as the Texas Hill Country in Austin Texas. Austin is in central Texas, just a bit east and south of dead center. Houston is a few hours east of us and San Antonio is a couple hours south of us. There is very little to the west except the Big Bend Country and El Paso.

20170806 Threading the Needle.
The Pfaff 2140 has been Judy’s sewing companion for the past fifteen years. It has traveled the length and bredth of our country. In June we scheduled a tune-up service for the old boy, and Judy did without sewing for a month. When Pfaff came back from servicing it was so happy to see Judy that he ran his motor full tilt for a couple seconds each time she turned him on. We sent him back for the quivalent of sewing machine psyco-therapy where he got a brain transplant. This time when he came home he not only was excited to see her, he began popping up his pressure foot whenever Judy stopped a seam. This didn’t please Judy at all. Classic Mariners Regatta:
Today we went to the Classic Mariners Regatta with Glen, Barb and Bryce. We all agreed that the boat I highlighted in yesterday’s blog was the most beautiful boat there. In fact it looked so fast that it looked like it was going 5 knots still tied to the dock. Here is a photo of the Pacifica on the leeward leg of the race as she passed Point Hudson. She is running a spinnaker on the main mast and a staysail on the mizzen.
After the race we toured the marina again and spoke with the owners and crew. We discovered they were originally from San Diego but now live here in Port Townsend. We gave them the address of our blog and I invite them to comment here.

Notice there is very little difference between the boats. One is slightly longer, slightly wider and slightly heavier than the other, (45600lbs to 2280lbs). A mere order of magnitude or so.
February 20, 1965: Fifty Years Together:
On June 20, 1964 I kind of kicked off a series of events that have brought Judy and I to this point in our life together. This is our Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. To celebrate this event I polished up an old song by Hank Snow called “With this Ring I Thee Wed.” It was just the song I needed at the time. I was somewhat nervous and timid, but if I could sing it in a song, I could get my message across. At the time I was working for the Northern Pacific Railroad. To pass the time, I spent many hours hiking and playing my guitar. The main thing on my mind was this enchanting young lady, Judith Starr, who lived in Spokane, Washington. Sitting Still
One more blog for 2014. Where has the year gone?
Like the title says, we have been here in Lake Havasu City, Arizona sitting still for the past month. Our original intent was to spend December with Judy’s sister, Sonja. We had no idea how important that month of sitting would be. First of all Sonja was in a bad car wreck in October. She spent over two months in the skilled nursing facility here in Lake Havasu City. We have been helping her when she came home in mid December. By some minor miracle we were able to rent the lot right next door to Sonja for the month of December. Continue reading Sitting Still
